Initial Situation

Planning individual play landscapes is technically demanding and consultation-intensive. Different modules must be combined to standard, spatially positioned correctly and economically calculated.

Previously, project planning was largely manual – with considerable coordination effort between sales, planning and the customer. Variants had to be visualised, combinations checked and prices calculated separately.

Objective.

The goal was the development of a web-based 3D product configurator as a central sales and planning tool.

The solution should:
  • make complex play landscapes intuitively configurable
  • take DIN-relevant parameters into account
  • automatically check combination rules
  • calculate prices and quantities in real time
  • enable various export formats for quotes and further processing
  • be independently maintainable via an integrated content management system
    The focus was on a bespoke software solution that is both technically precise and emotionally compelling.

Implementation

Convario designed and developed a bespoke 3D web application with rule-based configuration logic.

Core components of the solution:

  • Individual Anchor Point Logic
    To ensure technically plausible combinations, a multi-level rule and anchor point architecture was developed. This automatically controls permitted connections and prevents erroneous configurations.
  • Real-Time Calculation
    Prices, quantities, areas and safety-relevant parameters are calculated dynamically during configuration.
  • Interactive 3D Visualisation
    Photorealistic 3D models, modelled landscapes and realistic scenarios enable an emotional product presentation directly in the browser – without any additional software installation.
  • Content Management System
    A powerful CMS allows the customer to independently maintain modules, prices and content. Implementation was carried out agile according to Scrum with iterative releases, prototyping phases and close coordination with product management and sales.

Result

With the 3D playground configurator, Sauerland Spielgeräte now has a digital sales instrument that combines complex project planning, visual presentation and commercial calculation in one system.

Planning processes have been significantly accelerated, consultation effort reduced and variants can be visualised in real time. At the same time, the rule-based logic ensures that only technically and normatively permissible combinations are created.
